This was a good product for a Civil War battle scene for a U.S. History class. Though the quality of the plastic was a bit poor, the detail and authenticity made up for it. Overall, great product for a fun time!

Here's a nice mix of soldiers to help you fill out your American Civil War battles. The product is "Authentic Civil War" by Esco (model 1656).
Each side consists of a mounted general, standing general, flag bearer, and about 20 riflers in at least 4 poses. The figures feature many historical details, the Union side has backpacks and kepis, the Confederate side has blanket rolls and kepis also. The figures are about 52 mm from soles of feet to top of hat, and slightly smaller than some other playsets, but they should mix well. The sculpts are about what you expect for plastic toy soldiers. The mold quality is pretty good with barely noticible seams and mold lines. Very little flash on these. You also get two wheeled "Napoleonic" cannons and ammo cart limbers.
All in all these figures will make a great starter or reinforcement set for you civil war recreations.

This set of soldiers was ordered to complete a diorama display for a history class. While the soldiers and cannons were portrayed accurately the quality of the product was very poor. When putting the wheels on the cannons the attachment pegs broke off in addition to several of the longer guns for the soldiers breaking as well. This would never hold up for children playing since it had to be glued together just to use in a display.
